It’s that time of the year again: Memphis Showboats DB Nehemiah Shelton has signed with the Los Angeles Chargers. Every season he finds a way back to an NFL team, and has done so once again following a UFL campaign in Memphis.
Nehemiah made his way back to the Showboats, serving as a rotational piece in Jarren Horton’s defense – after playing the same role in Carnell Lake’s unit the prior two seasons. In 2025, Nehemiah racked up nine tackles (108 snaps), playing in seven games.
Back in 2023, Shelton was a late signing for the Memphis Showboats. He was actually one of their USFL College Draft picks, and ended up appearing in three games, totaling three tackles. From there, he signed with the Jets, and posted one tackle in two preseason matchups.
Nehemiah returned to the Showboats in 2024, making the regular season roster and making several appearances with Memphis. Shelton played just 35 snaps in 2024, appearing in five games. He had six tackles as a Showboat in 2024.
This led to another stint with the New York Jets in the NFL – followed up by an appearance with the Los Angeles Chargers.
