Two years ago, the Razorbacks had one of the worst secondaries in the country. They finished 129th out of 131 FBS programs in passing yards given up per game in 2022, allowing 288.5 yards.
That all changed when Sam Pittman hired Travis Williams and Marcus Woodson as co-defensive coordinators. Williams’ aggressive defensive style could utilize a front seven that finished atop the rest of the SEC in sacks the previous year. On the other hand, Woodson-who had success with a poor Florida State secondary-came to Fayetteville in hopes of turning the DB room around.
That’s exactly what they did.
The Hogs jumped from 129th to 28th, allowing just 200.5 yards per game. They dropped some in the number of sacks, moving from 5th in the nation to 41st, but they still managed to stay in the top third of the country.
Arkansas lost a couple of key contributors from 2023’s squad, like LaDarrius Bishop (Transfer), Alfahiym Walcott (out of eligibility), and standout Dwight McGlothern (NFL draft). But the Hogs return players like Jaylon Braxton, who went off as a freshman, and Lorando “Snaxx” Johnson for the 2024 season.
With newcomers like Doneiko Slaughter (Tennessee), Miguel Mitchell (Florida), and Marquise Robinson (Southern Alabama), the secondary shouldn’t lose much steam, especially at cornerback.

Jaheim Singletary had a lackluster performance last season. The former five-star recruit began the season as the starter, but his snap count progressively shrank until Jaylon Braxton officially took over the starting position against Ole Miss.
With Dwight McGlothern gone, the battle for the open CB spot will be huge. Kee’yon Stewart is pressing to take the starting spot with other transfer candidates, but Singletary’s potential is still…
