CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois tight end Tip Reiman was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the third round (No. 82 overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft. Reiman heads to Arizona with Illini teammate Isaiah Adams, who was picked by the Cardinals 11 picks prior on Friday night.
Reiman is the second-highest drafted tight end in Illinois history, behind only Ken Dilger, who was the No. 48 overall pick by the Indianapolis Colts in 1995.
Reiman had 41 receptions for 420 yards and five touchdowns during his Illinois career. He began at Illinois as a walk-on in 2020 before earning a scholarship from head coach Bret Bielema in September 2021, then becoming one of the top tight ends in the Big Ten.
Regarded as one of the top blocking tight ends in this year’s Draft, Reiman had his most productive pass-catching season for the Illini in 2023. He caught 19 passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns while starting all 12 games.
Reiman was the third Fighting Illini picked in the 2024 NFL Draft, following DT Jer’Zhan Newton (Washington, No. 36) and Adams (Arizona, No. 71). He is the 256th NFL Draft pick in Illinois history, dating back to 1937, and the seventh tight end in Illinois history to be selected in the NFL Draft.
Reiman was the first Fighting Illini tight end drafted since Michael Hoomanawanui was a fifth-round pick in 2010. He is the 54th NFL Draft pick in Bielema’s 15 seasons as a head coach and his seventh tight end.
