Bills’ Josh Allen is ‘rooting for’ Tyrell Shavers at training camp

Even for those not following every second of Buffalo Bills training camps this summer, you probably still could have figured that the “training camp darling” was going to be a wide receiver.

That’s the nature of the beast when your top two wide receivers leave the team in the offseason and that has happened. His name Tyrell Shavers.

Shavers spent last year on Buffalo’s practice squad. He originally signed with the team after going undrafted at the 2023 NFL draft.

After learning in the background last season, Shavers is impressing with his opportunity this summer and he’s hoping to stick around on the 53-man roster… and then some. The 24-ear-old is even getting reps with the first-team offense in training camp.

“That’s one thing, I do belong, and I just got to stay patient, stay on the grind because as soon as you stop working at this level, that’s when you go out the door,” Shavers told the team’s website.

The praise is not just coming from the outside, either.

The man at the heart of the Bills offense is quarterback Josh Allen. The young playmaker has caught Allen’s eye at training camp which could go a long way for him.

“He does the little things the right way,” Allen said. “He’s always working.”

“Didn’t get a lot of opportunity last year, was on the practice squad. But he’s made the most of his opportunities so far during camp, he’s one of those guys that you find yourself rooting for,” Allen added.

Allen’s full breakdown on Shavers can be found in the clip below:
