Bill Belichick and the UNC football program have now secured three commitments out of the transfer portal. Since arriving at UNC last week, Belichick and the program have been working hard with visits and getting recruits on campus.
On Wednesday, they were able to secure a commitment from tight end Connor Cox. The former South Carolina tight end visited UNC and canceled his visit to NC State. It paid off for the Tar Heels in the form of a commitment.
The 6-foot-6, 240-pound tight end has three years of eligibility left after two seasons at South Carolina. He caught just one pass for 9 yards and a touchdown last season for the Gamecocks.

Cox entered the transfer portal on December 7th, drawing some interest from a few different teams. He did have the plan to visit NC State but once Belichick was hired, Cox opted to not visit and instead head to Chapel Hill.
For the Tar Heels, that’s three commitments out of the transfer portal for Belichick and his staff. They aren’t done just yet either.
UNC has several other targets in the portal and will be hosting more for visits in the coming days.
