The Unpacking Future Packers Countdown is a countdown of 100 prospects who the Green Bay Packers could select in the 2025 NFL draft.

The Green Bay Packers have a history of drafting college offensive tackles and converting them to guards.

The next college offensive tackle that the Packers could have an eye on kicking inside at the next level is Emery Jones Jr. The LSU offensive linemen checks in at No. 60 in the Unpacking Future Packers Countdown.

Jones, a native of Louisiana and four-star recruit finished his career at LSU with 36 starts at right tackle. According to Pro Football Focus, Jones earned a run-blocking grade of 61.0 and a pass-blocking grade of 67.4, both down from his 2023 campaign where he looked like a future first-round pick.

“Jones’ junior season with the Tigers wasn’t his best, whether it was in pass protection or in the run game,” Koki Riley, the LSU report for The Advocate and Nola.com, said. “But his presence as a third-year starter still provided LSU with a right tackle they could count on.”

Jones played guard during his prep career and there will be teams that will look to kick him back inside to guard where he took 33 snaps during his collegiate career.

“Jones has the size and athleticism to play every position on the line, but he probably fits best at guard,” Riley said. “He was a dominant guard at Catholic High in Baton Rouge and is better suited for the position at the next level because of his size.”

At 6-4, 312 pounds with long arms, Jones has excellent length and body mass. With his brute strength, Jones plays with a bully mentality as a run blocker. The 36-game starter has impressive power at the point of attack and has the grip strength to stay engaged. He’s a mauler and has never lost a street fight. Jones clears out defenders when he’s on the move.

“The right side of LSU’s line was the weaker side when it came to the run game, and this season wasn’t Jones’ best in Baton Rouge,” Riley said. “However, the Louisiana native is extremely mature and plays with a high motor. Plug him in at guard and there’s little reason why he can’t be an effective run blocker.”

Jones is best playing in a phone booth. He shoots his long arms into oncoming rushers, showcasing a timely punch. He plays with good knee bend and typically stays balanced in his slide.

According to PFF, Jones gave up one sack and 18 pressures this past season. With nine of those pressures coming against the Ole Miss…
