Last week, Metcalf was the only Seahawk to be named to CBS’ Pete Prisco’s Top-100 NFL Players of 2022 list, coming in at No. 66.
This month, Metcalf (No.11) and Lockett (No.23) were named to Pro Football Focus‘ Top-25 Wideouts list for 2022. In Febraury, Metcalf was ranked No.91 on PFF’s Top 101 players of the 2021 season list.
Smith also discusses a potential sleeper in rookie wideout and Rutgers alum Bo Melton, sharing the same sentiments as Seattle Sports 710 AM host and former Seahawks wideout Michael Bumpus on Melton. Smith shares thoughts on how Melton can separate himself amongst a crowded wideout room.
“Trying to crack a deep receiving rotation headlined by Metcalf and Lockett won’t be an easy undertaking for an incoming rookie,” said Smith “But the versatile Melton should be an intriguing fit in offensive coordinator Shane Waldron’s offense due to his positional flexibility. He can run routes or take handoffs from the slot, has played out of the backfield in the past, and has extensive experience playing the X and Z spots on the outside.”
