5-star DE Jayden Wayne projected to go to Miami

In somewhat of a suprising turn of events, the Oregon Ducks may not be in as good of a place as fans thought they were when it comes to the recruitment of 5-star EDGE Jayden Wayne, the former No. 1 player from the state of Washington.

Recently, Wayne announced that he was going to play his final year of high school ball down in Florida at IMG Academy, and on Wednesday, it was reported from On3’s Justin Hopkins that he is predicting Wayne to end up committing to the Miami Hurricanes, with Mario Cristobal and Co. rather than the Ducks, where many people believed he was leaning over the past few months.

Wayne also received a trio of new Crystal Ball Predictions from 247Sports, all of which have him picking the Hurricanes as well.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Miami is in the running for Wayne. It was Cristobal and his staff who started recruiting Wayne at Oregon, and they’ve obviously done well to continue that since he went down to Corral Gables.

If you’re an Oregon fan who is bummed out about this news, I don’t blame you. However, all hope is not yet lost. There is still a lot of time before Wayne signs this winter, and there’s a chance that he realizes playing across the country from his home in the Pacific Northwest isn’t all he thought it was going to be.

Regardless, it may be that the Ducks are not where they want to be in Wayne’s recruitment.
