There’s no replacing the Butkus. Jack Campbell will go down as one of the greatest to ever don the black and gold. What he meant to Iowa is greater than just his on-the-field contributions, too. Still, Iowa will do its best to replace Campbell and fellow longtime starter Seth Benson beginning tomorrow.
Jay Higgins played 213 snaps in 2022 and it looks like he’s primed to step into one of the starting linebacker spots. He was listed atop the middle linebacker depth chart to begin the spring. Virginia transfer Nick Jackson will arrive this summer, but who shows out on Saturday beforehand?
In addition to Higgins, Jaden Harrell, Kelby Telander and Kyler Fisher all have opportunities to impress the coaching staff in the open spring practice.
