The Browns’ secondary saw ups and downs from multiple players, but the combined effort needs to be better against Dallas at the start of the regular season. Out of all the starters to not play, the Browns ended up starting first-team safeties Grant Delpit and Juan Thornhill.
Both players saw some meaningful action that allowed them to knock the rust off before going up against the All-Pro passing attack in the Cowboys offense. In the matchup against Seattle however, the secondary gave up 17 catches on 24 targets for 9.2 yards per catch. Some positive takeaways from their performance were the single passing touchdown they gave up and under 160 combined receiving yards.
If they allowed If they want any chance of starting the regular season on the right foot, the team will need a better-combined effort from the Browns’ secondary.
