There’s no getting around it if we are being completely honest with ourselves.
That was not the Oregon Ducks offense that we have come to know and love over the past couple of decades, and it was a far cry from what we expected them to look like in the second year under Will Stein, this time with Dillon Gabriel at the helm.
While the Ducks put up some numbers on the stat sheet during Saturday’s 24-14 win over the Idaho Vandals, they were unable to finish drives. They put points on the board in four of their 11 drives that didn’t end a half. A total of 487 yards of offense is usually nothing to complain about, but when it comes against a Football Championship Subdivision school that you were favored to beat by 49 points, it left many feeling unsatisfied.
Fortunately, it’s a long season, and the Ducks have ample time to get on track. For now, though, let’s take a look at where the Oregon offense ranks nationally in some key offensive statistics after Week 1.
