Caldwell was previously the Jaguars’ defensive coordinator during the 2022 and 2023 seasons under former head coach Doug Pederson.
During the 2022 season, the Jaguars ranked 14th in points per game and they were 15th in yards per play surrendered. In the following 2023 season, Jacksonville was 16th in points and 21st in yards per play.
In that 2023 season, defensive end Josh Hines-Allen was named a Pro Bowler for the first time since 2019. That year he totaled a whopping 90 pressures, according to PFF, and had 17.5 sacks.
In the most recent 2024 season, Caldwell was the Las Vegas Raiders linebackers coach and run game coordinator. He’s been coaching in the NFL since the 2008 season.
Caldwell appeared in 159 games as a player, including 49starts, during his NFL career at the linebacker position, which spanned from 1993 to 2003.
