Defenders Reactivate Ty Scott, Stallions Lose A.J. Thomas

The DC Defenders got some good news this week, as star WR Ty Scott has made his way back to the roster. On the other hand, the Birmingham Stallions have lost S A.J. Thomas – which is a tough blow to their secondary ahead of the postseason.

WR Ty Scott | DC Defenders

Ty Scott is back, and while it isn’t guaranteed that he’ll play on Sunday – the odds are looking good. Scott went to IR after a week three forearm injury put him on injured reserve. It was unclear as to whether or not he would be able to make a return, but he’s officially back with the Defenders.

This is huge news for DC. Their offense has already been humming as of late, with Jordan Ta’amu and this receiving core working wonders. Chris Rowland was named to the All-UFL list this year, being second in the UFL in receiving yards, with 522. Meanwhile, Cornell Powell is leading the UFL in receiving touchdowns, with seven.

However, Ty Scott was arguably WR1 in DC’s offense prior to his injury. Through three weeks, Scott recorded 205 receiving yards and a touchdown – leading the UFL in targets (25). He’s had success against this St. Louis defense already, scoring a 62 yard touchdown in their week three win.

With Scott’s usage % in DC, he’ll be a huge asset for their offense heading into the postseason. Of course, he probably won’t see the heavy targets as he did early in the year before the injury – but just the threat of having him on the field, as opposed to a Seth Williams or Javon Antonio, is a lift for this DC team.

S A.J. Thomas | Birmingham Stallions

Unfortunately, the fears of Thomas being done for the year are true. A.J. Thomas went down with injury during week 10’s matchup against Memphis, and is now officially placed on injured reserve.
