ALBANY, N.Y.  – The University at Albany and Head Coach Greg Gattuso today announced the hiring of Jared Ambrose as the team’s Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach. In addition, the team announced several positional changes to the coaching staff.

“We are very excited to have Jared join our staff,” said Gattuso “I’ve coached against him in the CAA over the past several years, and I was always impressed with his ability to utilize his personnel to attack defenses based on the strengths of his players. He understands the importance of a strong and consistent run game. During the process I think what jumped out the most was his engaging personality and commitment to his players. He is a great fit.”

Ambrose comes to UAlbany after spending the previous three years as the offensive coordinator for the University of Delaware. While with the Blue Hens, his offensive unit produced record-setting numbers on its way to a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship and FCS Semifinal appearance in 2020-21. Running back Dejoun Lee was selected as the CAA Offensive Player of the Year, the third that Ambrose has coached, and quarterback Nolan Henderson was one of the nation’s most-efficient passers. Ambrose’s offense that year ranked fifth in the nation and first in the CAA in time of possession.

“I’m thrilled to be here,” said Ambrose. “I’m very appreciative to Coach Gattuso and Mark Benson for giving me an opportunity to come up here and work at a place with great tradition. Everyone here has been great, and I can’t wait to get to work.”
