Four years after the “Philly Special,” the Bengals pulled off their own trick play that resulted in their first touchdown of Super Bowl LVI. The score came on a touchdown pass from running back Joe Mixon to receiver Tee Higgins. It was the first-ever touchdown pass for Mixon, who was selected to his first Pro Bowl this season.
Mixon becomes the third running back to throw a Super Bowl touchdown. The first was Cowboys running back Robert Newhouse on a 29-yard touchdown pass to Golden Richards in Super Bowl XIII.
