Keaontay Ingram, Isaac Taylor-Stuart, Drake London, and Drake Jackson are just a few names we have seen in recent mock drafts.
The USC Trojans have quite a few players who should find NFL teams this year, but one name that wasn’t mentioned is Kana’i Mauga. Until now, that is.
In a recent mock draft from Vic Tafur of The Athletic, Mauga is drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the final round.
Mauga didn’t receive an NFL combine invitation, but, there is a chance he will be selected, especially in the seventh round.
The 6-2, 245-pound Mauga started all 12 games for the Trojans but did not receive an NFL Scouting Combine invitation. He had 56 solo tackles, 5 1/2 tackles for a loss, one sack and one interception. He projects as a good coverage linebacker.
The Trojans’ track record for churning out NFL-caliber players helps everybody in this class, and Mauga might benefit from that despite not being showcased in the combine.
He might even be getting overlooked.
The Cardinals need to add a lot of pieces on defense, and the loss of Chandler Jones hurts a lot. So who knows, maybe Mauga comes in and earns a spot on the 53-man roster despite being such a late draft choice.
All in all, it is good to see him getting some notable recognition.
