Going into the 2022 football season, LSU Wire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the Tigers’ roster.
Over the preseason, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for Brian Kelly this season.
Next on the roster is a legacy player in quarterback Tavion Faulk. The nephew of former star LSU and New England Patriots running back Kevin Faulk, who was on the previous coaching staff, joined the Tigers as a walk-on last season. He likely won’t factor much into this year’s quarterback battle, but he could potentially see the field in an emergency situation.

Faulk, who played quarterback and defensive back in high school before walking on in Baton Rouge, has far from a clear path to the field. The Tigers return one veteran quarterback in Myles Brennan and added another through the transfer portal in Jayden Daniels.
Add in redshirt freshman Garrett Nussmeier and true freshman Walker Howard, a five-star prospect in 2022, and it’s hard to imagine a situation where he sees any action.
That situation almost arose in the Texas Bowl, when Faulk and fellow walk-on Matthew O’Dowd were the only quarterbacks available. However, receiver Jontre Kirklin eventually saw most of the work at quarterback in that game.
