Rutgers football and Penn State host Jordan Montgomery this weekend

Class of 2023 linebacker Jordan Montgomery checked out Friday’s annual Rutgers football spring game. He left feeling good about the direction of the program as well as wanting to secure an offer from the Scarlet Knights.

Montgomery is a linebacker at Roman Catholic in Philadelphia. Other programs are beginning to show interest in Montgomery including Penn State.

He is a three-star recruit according to Rivals.

In recent years, Rutgers has done well recruiting Pennsylvania and in particular, the Philadelphia region.

The 2022 recruiting class included three Philadelphia recruits in running back Samuel Brown, linebacker Anthony Johnson and offensive line Emir Stinette. The current recruiting class has three-star wide receiver Yazeed Haynes from Pennsylvania.

The 6-foot-2 athlete currently holds offers from Maryland, Syracuse and Temple.

“The visit went good as normal. The love from the coaches and everything was great. I feel as though that the Rutgers Football program is a great program that is well organized and run well by coach Schiano.”

“They’re doing good, they’re showing me lots of love. Coach Shaw and coach Schiano text me and check up on me here and there. They check on me like I’m one of theirs. I have lots of big-time programs that I also like.”
