With the 2022 NFL schedule reveal coming next week, it’s the season for some interesting facts about each team’s schedule.
We already know which teams the Kansas City Chiefs will face next season and we know that they’ll play the Los Angeles Chargers in “Thursday Night Football” during Week 2. Another thing we already know about the schedule? With the NFL revealing all of the international games for 2022, we know the exact distances that NFL teams will have to travel for their games.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared a tweet containing the total miles and number of time zone changes (via Bookies.com’s Bill Speros) for each of the league’s 32 teams. Being centrally located right in the middle of the country typically means that Kansas City is always around the middle of the pack for travel distance. This year, however, they rank very literally right in the middle of all NFL teams at No. 16.
Check it out:
The Chiefs will cover 17,746 miles and 22 time zones when they hit the road in 2022. The Seattle Seahawks will cover the most miles (29,446) and time zone changes (34), while the Pittsburgh Steelers will have the fewest of both (6,442 miles, 0 time zones). The best news for Kansas City is that they have the least travel distance of each of their AFC West opponents. The Denver Broncos, for instance, will have the second-most mileage traveled (27,398) and the second-most time zone changes (32).
