49ers-Cardinals has a bigger USC flavor this year

Drake Jackson NFL draft

The NFL schedule release event took place on Thursday, and what a day it was for NFL fans everywhere.

One of the most notable games for USC football fans is the Arizona Cardinals against the San Francisco 49ers, which will happen twice in the contentious NFC West.

This year, it is different and more meaningful for Trojans fans.

The Cardinals-49ers game will feature a few former Trojans: Keaontay Ingram for the Cardinals, and Talanoa Hufanga and Drake Jackson for the 49ers.

Ingram was a sixth-round draft choice by Arizona in the 2022 NFL draft and will likely slot into an immediate role in the Cardinals’ rushing game.

Jackson went in the second round to the 49ers, and is paired with Nick Bosa. That is a terrific advantage for the former Trojans star, one who was once a top-10 pick before a subpar final season in Los Angeles.

Jackson is also teamed up with Hufanga, who was selected by the 49ers in the 2021 NFL draft and played a meaningful role for San Francisco in his rookie campaign.

The first matchup between these two teams will be on November 11 on Monday Night Football, and the second will be in Week 18 in the Bay Area.
