Tank Bigsby listed among top 2023 NFL draft RBs

Over the years the Auburn fans have seen plenty of former Tigers make their way to the NFL at the running back position.

The top name is obviously Bo Jackson, who won the Heisman Memorial Trophy in 1985. In more recent years you will find the names such as Ronnie Brown and current running backs coach Carnell “Cadillac” Williams. In the last eight years, you can find Cameron Artis-Payne, Chandler Cox, and Kerryon Johnson.

The next running back will be Cartavious “Tank” Bigsby. The former four-star prospect signed with Auburn in the 2020 recruiting class that also saw the Texas Longhorns land Bijan Robinson, and TCU signing Zach Evans. The trio could be in the mix to be the top RB off the board in 2023.

In his annual summer scouting series, Mark Schofield of Touchdown Wire broke down each of the top names at the position. Bigsby is right there with the best of them.

What Touchdown Wire Says…

Cartavious “Tank” Bigsby was one of the highest-ranked running backs in the 2020 recruiting class, and that talent showed on the field during the 2020 season. Bigsby was named the SEC Freshman of the Year and a Second-Team All-SEC performer after gaining 834 yards on 138 carries in 2020, scoring five touchdowns.

Bigsby built on those numbers last season, gaining 1,099 yards on 223 carries and scoring ten touchdowns. He was the first player to score a rushing touchdown against the Georgia defense last season, and was named Auburn’s team Offensive Player of the Year.

He has good footwork and vision as a running back, and displays the ability to be an effective back in both zone and gap/power systems. On this run against South Carolina you can see the footwork and the vision as he cuts back on this inside zone design:
