Contract details for 1st-round WR Jahan Dotson

The Washington Commanders signed first-round pick Jahan Dotson to a four-year deal last week ahead of OTAs, which begin this week in Ashburn.

Now, the terms are in for Dotson’s rookie contract.

According to Over the Cap, Dotson’s rookie deal is for a maximum of $15.048 million over four years and is fully guaranteed. Dotson will count $2.74 million against the salary cap in 2022.

The Commanders selected Dotson No. 16 overall after moving down from No. 11 in a trade with the New Orleans Saints. Washington also received the No. 98 and No. 120 overall selections in the trade.

Dotson participated in Washington’s rookie minicamp before head coach Ron Rivera dismissed him so he could attend his graduation from Penn State. Dotson had planned to skip his graduation so he wouldn’t miss a practice, but Rivera did right by him and his family.

The Commanders selected Dotson with the belief that he could play outside or in the slot and potentially be a difference-maker as a punt returner. Most importantly, Washington believes Dotson will be an immediate contributor.

Dotson should immediately become one of Washington’s top three receivers alongside Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel.
