Are Ravens keeping a watchful eye on Giants WR Darius Slayton?

Leading up to the 2022 NFL draft, rumors swirled that the New York Giants were open to trading running back Saquon Barkley, as well as wide receivers Kadarius Toney and Darius Slayton.

When nothing materialized, general manager Joe Schoen shot back at reporters, claiming neither Barkley nor Toney were on the trading block. However, he offered no clarity when it came to Slayton.

For now, Slayton remains with the Giants and by all accounts, he’s played well throughout OTAs. But he still carries a $2.6 million cap hit for a team that’s crippled financially and paying their wide receivers more than any other NFL team.

That potentially makes Slayton expendable. And others around the league know it.

Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton recently compiled an article looking at potential surprising cuts and unsurprisingly, Slayton made the list. But what’s more interesting about that is the Baltimore Ravens’ digital staff picked up on that and covered it for the team’s official website.

Here’s what Moton had to said that piqued their interest:

If New York lets Slayton go, the Baltimore Ravens should make an aggressive offer for him.

Averaging 15.2 yards per catch through his first two seasons, Slayton can make big plays for the Ravens as a field-stretching replacement for Marquise Brown, whom Baltimore traded to the Arizona Cardinals.

The Giants certainly have numbers at wide receiver and that means some players are going to break loose. If they determine Slayton will be one of them, Schoen may look to trade the wideout. Unfortunately, we’ve already seen how that goes with James Bradberry.

Like the Eagles and other teams in that situation, the Ravens are likely waiting to see if Slayton does, in fact, shake loose.
