For the first time since 2015, the Kansas City Chiefs are poised to have a new leader in receiving yards in the wide receiver room.
In each of the past six seasons, Tyreek Hill has led all Chiefs wide receivers in receiving yards. Jeremy Maclin was the team’s leading wideout in 2015 with 1,088 yards, the season before Hill was drafted into the NFL. Hill, of course, is no longer on the roster after being traded to the Miami Dolphins earlier this offseason.
While we know that Travis Kelce is the likeliest to lead the team in receiving yards, we don’t know who will emerge as the top wide receiver in this offense sans Tyreek Hill. You can make an argument for any number of players really, as the wide receiver group on the 90-man roster is extraordinarily deep.
Mecole Hardman is entering a contract year and should be highly motivated to go out and prove himself. JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are among two of the team’s top free-agent acquisitions and their chemistry is coming along nicely with QB Patrick Mahomes. The young guns like Skyy Moore and Justyn Ross are sure to be considered underdogs, but just five seasons ago a rookie Tyreek Hill led Chiefs receivers in receiving yards.
Who do you think will be the leader in receiving yards from this group? Be sure to vote in our poll at the top of the page. Also, share your thoughts with us in the comment section down below or on Facebook and Twitter.
