The Eagles on Friday added depth and competition to their safety room, agreeing to terms with veteran Jaquiski (pronounced juh-KWAH-skee) Tartt on a one-year contract. Tartt started 14 games for the 49ers in the 2021 season, and he started 64 of the 80 games he played in San Francisco since 2015.
A second-round draft pick (46th overall) by the 49ers in that 2015 NFL Draft, Tartt is a big (6-1, 215 pounds), athletic veteran who displayed versatility in his time with San Francisco, most of that as a starting player. In his first seven NFL seasons, Tartt was productive with 367 tackles, 18 passes defensed, four sacks, and four interceptions. Tartt has started all six playoff contests he has appeared in including Super Bowl 54.
Tartt, a college teammate of Eagles cornerback James Bradberry at Samford, joins a room with some depth and options, including Anthony Harris, Marcus Epps, Andre Chachere, K’Von Wallace, Jared Mayden, and Reed Blankenship.
