Former Penn State safety Jaquan Brisker made a bold statement by saying the Chicago Bears got the steal of the draft when they selected him in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft. And it has not taken long for Brisker to assert himself with his new team.
“Brisker came in on day one and that’s probably the best safety I’ve seen already,” was the bold statement proclaimed by NFL analyst Adam Hoge on a recent episode of the Hoge and Jahns podcast.
“I don’t think he’s anything since day one but sort of cement that, and that’s really impressive for a rookie to do,” Hoge went on to explain. “Clearly Jaquan Brisker a winner getting drafted in the second round, maybe the best definition of a plug-and-play starter.”
The reaction from Hoge is incredibly confident in suggesting Brisker will be ready to start and play a key role in the Bears defense in the 2022 season beginning right away in Week 1. That’s great news for the Bears, who can feel good about picking Brisker in the second round and not passing up the opportunity to lock down a key spot in the secondary.
Naturally, Brisker’s former head coach, Penn State’s James Franklin, took pride in seeing that feedback put out there on the internet.
Brisker was selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft with the No. 48 overall pick. He has yet to sign his rookie contract at this time.
