What must an Oregon Duck writer or analyst be thinking right now?
Guess what? We can give you that perspective.
We asked our pal Don Smalley of Ducks Wire to answer some questions about realignment and how Oregon fits into the picture.
We started with the big question:
“Should Oregon be confident it will have a home in the Big Ten? Why or why not?”
Don Smalley: Yes and no. I think the longer Oregon waits to make the move, the more difficult it will be. But Oregon has to make the move. The Pac-12 is dead. It’s a mid-major now without the LA schools. The next TV contract will be substantially less now that the Los Angeles market is off the table. The Ducks need to follow the money and right now, a lot more money will flow through the Big Ten than the Pac-12. But if Oregon plays a wait-and-see game, I’m afraid the Big Ten will move on without them and go elsewhere.
