New York Jets LB C.J. Mosley has respect of his peers

CJ Mosley is a polarizing figure on the New York Jets defense.

He’s also an important player to the team.

Mosley isn’t at the level of quarterback Zach Wilson, but he’s up there. The Jets need to improve against the run on defense to be a successful team in 2022 and Mosley is at the center of that.

All things considered, many in New York ask whether or not signing Mosley prior to the 2019 season was worth. it. ESPN revealed that some of his peers think yes he was, even if some onlookers debate that topic.

The former world-wide leader surveyed more than 50 league executives, coaches, scouts and players to help us name the 10 best at each spot on the field according to those in the game.

Mosley did not slide into the top 10, perhaps indicating some of the needed improvement is real. However, he did get votes and ended up as an honorable mention.

After conducting the poll, here’s what ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler wrote on Mosley:

C.J. Mosley, New York Jets: Mosley played just two total games in the 2019 and 2020 seasons, but he put up 168 tackles and two sacks last season. “Still really solid, always strong and smooth, never been a twitchy athlete,” an NFC exec said. “Hasn’t declined as much but on is on that trajectory.”
