A trio of Iowa Hawkeyes made their way to Indianapolis to preview the 2022 college football season. Linebacker Jack Campbell, tight end Sam LaPorta and safety Kaevon Merriweather accompanied head football coach Kirk Ferentz to Big Ten Media Days to offer insight on the upcoming season.
On the Big Ten Network, Campbell, LaPorta, and Merriweather sat down with host Dave Revsine to discuss how the offseason has gone and some of their thoughts on 2022.
What stood out about 2021

“I think what stood out is the way we were able to bounce back after those two losses to Purdue and Wisconsin. We kind of went back to the drawing board, knew what we did wrong and we kind of fixed that those following games after that. We were able to pick up the pieces and finish the season out strong on a high note. Ended up in the Big Ten championship. It didn’t go how we wanted it to, but we were able to finish strong,” Kaevon Merriweather said.
“I think looking back on all the fond memories that we had last year, it was a great season, successful season. Didn’t end the way we wanted it to, but bouncing back off those two losses was definitely a high point for me. I think showing that you can make up for the lost ground that you’ve had and just being able to bounce back is something that you can think highly of the team,” LaPorta said.
“Yeah, I would say, just kind of bouncing off what they said, just how we handled adversity, responded. I mean, ultimately, didn’t end the way we wanted it to, but I’m just excited to get back going this season and I’m looking forward to it,” Campbell said.
