Mater Dei plot twist emerges for rising receiver from San Jose

Lincoln Riley continues to add to 2023 class

Jurrion Dickey is going places in more ways than one.

In 2021, Jurrion Dickey was the West Catholic Athletic League Wide Receiver of the Year. He also collected All-WCAL First Team honors after racking up 78 receptions for 1,304 yards and 23 total touchdowns (according to MaxPreps).

Dickey saw one of the biggest jumps of the recruiting cycle this spring, going from No. 59 nationally to No. 14 after showing out in a few recruiting camps. Per 247Sports, Dickey is rated only behind USC’s Zachariah Branch among 2023 wide receivers.

Now comes the news that Dickey is transferring to Mater Dei from Valley Christian High School, which is located in San Jose.

Jurrion Dickey enters this season as the No. 2 WR in the 2023 class and the No. 13 player overall. At 6-2, 210 pounds, Dickey is the prototype at the next level with his physical style play at the position.

He’ll be replacing former Mater Dei star receiver C.J. Williams. The Monarchs lost their top wide receiver from last season when Williams graduated and took his talents to USC to play for Lincoln Riley and the Trojans.

Mater Dei’s top recruits have a way of ending up at USC over the years, and though Dickey has been committed to Pac-12 rival Oregon since May, I wouldn’t be super shocked if Dickey could be persuaded to flip his commitment to the Trojans. So, Yes! I’m saying there is a chance.
