Lincoln Riley, USC continue to bury Pitt coach over Addison transfer

The drama surrounding the transfer of Pittsburgh star wide receiver Jordan Addison still hasn’t died out. Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans nabbed the top player on the market, and it didn’t go without conversation.

A lot of people suggested that Addison’s decision was purely based on NIL purposes. So far, USC QB Caleb Williams said that isn’t the case, and now Riley himself expressed frustration with recent comments from Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi (h/t Ryan Kartje of The Los Angeles Times).

“When someone challenges that with no facts and only emotion, do you take it personally? Absolutely you do,” Riley said. “I understand this is an emotional time. It’s an emotional game with a lot of emotional people. We recruited Jordan just like we did every other transfer. Jordan got in the transfer portal. Jordan came on a visit to USC. Despite all the negative things that were put out magically by somebody, he’s a kid that’s all about ball.”

Riley is clearly tired of hearing this story and says Addison’s decision was purely football-related, which is very similar to what Caleb Williams said about his new No. 1 target.

The NIL world sure is changing the landscape of college football, and maybe the move to USC had a little to do with that. However, the Trojans are loaded, and Addison gets to catch passes from one of the best QBs in the game right now. It sure seems like this was a good football decision aimed at boosting his NFL draft stock. Addison has been projected as a top-15 pick.
