The most important game for each Pac-12 football team

The day when the official schedule comes out is a fun time for a fan. You get to see where the supposedly easy wins are, the potential upsets, and the possible trap game that looms if your favorite team isn’t careful.

In the Pac-12, there is plenty of each type of game as the teams try to maneuver their way through the 2022 schedule. There are some huge non-conference matchups such as Oregon playing in Atlanta to face Georgia or USC’s annual meeting with Notre Dame.

But don’t overlook those tricky conference games. Each Pac-12 team has that one contest that is perhaps a little more important to win if they want to achieve their goals.

Arizona Wildcats

Nov. 25 vs Arizona State

Known as the Territorial Cup, Arizona meets ASU to end the season. The Wildcats aren’t expected to do much in 2022, but transfer quarterback Jayden de Laura could be the catalyst to jumpstart the Cats. Defeating the Sun Devils would be a perfect way to head into 2023.

Sept. 24 vs Utah

The Sun Devils have had quite the offseason with the NCAA infraction department breathing down their neck. But on the field, ASU could be a formidable team and an early home game with Pac-12 favorite Utah will go a long way to tell us how 2022 is going to go for coach Herm Edwards and his program in Tempe.
