Georgia football all-time nickname team

Projecting UGA’s offensive depth chart for 2022

Since 1892, thousands of football players have represented the University of Georgia in collegiate football.

Athletes come and go, but the fans’ adoration for the football program remains the same. However, although a player may leave after 3-4 years, some make a longer lasting impact than others, and it’s not always for their performance on the field.

A good nickname goes a long way. A great one makes you a household name. But if you’re great player who happens to have a great nickname, that makes you legendary. Nicknames are one of those things that can make a fondness for a player spread like wildfire. At Georgia, we’ve seen some great ones over the years – my favorite being Eddie “Meat Cleaver” Weaver.

Kobe. LeBron. Shaq. Tiger. Some players reserve the right to be referred to by simply their first name. For Georgia fans, that’s how we reference the great one, Herschel Walker. Shed the “Walker” and any football fan still knows exactly who you’re referring to. I also think most Georgia fans would agree that Roquan Smith is simply Roquan.
