In college football, the debate over which head coaches are on the hot seat is never-ending. The conversations often even look different week to week. One big win or one harrowing loss can alter a coach’s job security instantly.
With the 2022 season soon approaching, USA TODAY Sports writer Scooby Axson listed 10 head coaches across college football who need to win quickly, and three of those leaders hailed from the Pac-12: Arizona State’s Herm Edwards, Stanford’s David Shaw and Colorado’s Karl Dorrell.
Here’s what Axson wrote on Dorrell:
Maybe Mel Tucker saw the writing on the wall because after one season at Colorado, he hurried up and jumped ship to Michigan State, leaving Dorrell to pick up the pieces. After a decent 2020, things turned quickly last year. The problem with the Buffaloes was injuries and generating anything that looked like a competent offense. They managed to score 20 or fewer points in 10 of their 12 games. Most administrations want to see progress from year to year and that doesn’t happen this season, it would be hard to justify bring him back for a fourth season.
