There have been plenty of power rankings released, and with opening day almost here, even more predictions are surfacing.
The Pac-12 media picked Utah to win the conference and picked the Colorado Buffaloes to finish last, which is an unfortunate prediction for Karl Dorrell and his team. We released our own Pac-12 power rankings and had a bit more hope in the Buffs than the rest of the media.
Now, Chris Vannini of The Athletic compiled a ranking of all 131 teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Colorado’s place in the list certainly isn’t great, but take a look at where every team in the Pac-12 stood:
92: COLORADO BUFFALOES

The Buffs are the lowest ranked Pac-12 team in The Athletic’s breakdown. For some perspective, they are still ahead of Colorado State, UTEP, Tulsa and Kent State.
86: ARIZONA WILDCATS

Arizona won just one game last year and finished 1-11. Yet, they are ahead of the Buffs, and that is largely because of transfer QB Jayden de Laura.
