Nebraska and Scott Frost are the butt of the joke again. Social media just torched the Cornhuskers following their 31-28 meltdown of a loss to Northwestern in Dublin, Ireland, for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic at Aviva Stadium.
Casey Thompson transferred into Nebraska from Texas and actually did some really nice things. Thompson finished with a Cornhuskers-best debut performance of 355 passing yards. He had one touchdown pass, but threw two costly interceptions late that helped cement the rally for Northwestern.
Afterwards, Frost had to explain his decision to try an onside kick with the Huskers leading 28-17 early in the third quarter following a pair of Anthony Grant rushing touchdowns. Starting with Frost’s explanation on said onside kick, here were five of the most interesting things Frost had to say about his team’s season-opening defeat.

The way we were playing, I felt at that point like we had a really good chance of winning the game and I felt like maybe we were the better team. You can’t really foresee them scoring 14 straight and us sputtering after we played well to start the second half on offense. Again, those are excuses. If I had it over, I wouldn’t make the call,” Frost said.
