Handing out ‘Heroes’ status following week 1 action

Handing out ‘Heroes’ status following week 1 action

What a dominant week one for the Big Ten! Besides those matched up against a fellow conference opponent, sorry Illinois and Purdue, every single Big Ten team won their matchups! Also, give a hand to Rutgers for getting their season off to a strong start with a hard fought victory over Boston College.

Most of the wins were in convincing fashion against inferior opponents. The level of opponent combined with the mostly run-first mentality of the Big Ten led to a lot of great early performances by running backs, so expect to see a lot of ball carriers on the list. He played a massive role in saving Nebraska from an embarrassing defeat at the hands of FCS opponent North Dakota. Grant was named the Big Ten’s Co-Offensive Player of the Week alongside Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford, who you can consider an honorable mention.
