More changes coming to Arkansas’ secondary ahead of Missouri State

Jalen Catalon is out for the season. That much was known after coach Sam Pittman made the announcement following the South Carolina game on Saturday.

Earlier in this week, however, before the Hogs play Missouri State in the return of Bobby Petrino to Fayetteville, Pittman elucidated further changes would be coming to his defensive backfield.

Most significantly, defensive back Myles Slusher should be good to go for the game against the Bears. Just maybe not at the position he started in the opener, nickel.

“He’s going to have to play both (nickel and safety), but I don’t know where we would put him to start with,” Pittman said. “I think to be honest with you, I think Jayden Johnson is probably better suited to nickel and that would put Slush back to safety, but I don’t know.”

Toss in the fact that Latavious Brini is dealing with an injury (though he should be good to go Saturday) and LaDarrius Bishop is out for the game (undisclosed injury) and what was supposed to be the deepest unit on the defense is suddenly thin and hurting.

Let’s take a look at what could be in store for the Arkansas secondary on Saturday.

Hudson Clark, cornerback

Clark is one of the few players in the back who are locked in to where they will be on Saturday. The junior cornerback has been solid through two games with six tackles, two pass break-ups and a forced fumble.

Simeon Blair, safety
