DURHAM – In the latest edition of Blue Devil 360, Vice President and Director of Athletics Nina King joins David Shumate for a look back at a remarkable year on campus – one that featured a trip to the super regionals for softball, an ACC Title and return to the national semifinals for women’s tennis, and Mike Krzyzewski capping a storied career with a record-breaking 13th trip to the final four.
We’ll then get King’s take on some of the biggest changes in college sports regarding the implementation of NIL, the potential for new scheduling models in football and takeaways from her first year leading Duke Athletics. Also featured in this episode are conversations with Terence Lee, who claimed the silver medal for Duke in men’s saber at the NCAA Fencing Championships, and Peyton St. George – an All-American pitcher for the Blue Devil softball program.
To wrap-up, we will continue our celebration of 50 years of women’s varsity athletics in Durham as John Roth catches up with Candy Hannemann who helped the Blue Devil’s win their first of seven national championships in women’s golf in 1999.
