Stanford @ No. 13 Oregon
Current Records: Stanford 1-2; Oregon 3-1
What to Know
The Stanford Cardinal are staring down a pretty large 17.5-point disadvantage in the spread for Saturday’s contest. They are on the road again on Saturday and play against the Oregon Ducks at 11 p.m. ET Oct. 1 at Autzen Stadium. Oregon will be strutting in after a win while the Cardinal will be stumbling in from a loss.
Last week, Stanford lost to the Washington Huskies on the road by a decisive 40-22 margin. Stanford was down 30-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. The losing side was boosted by WR Michael Wilson, who caught six passes for two TDs and 176 yards. Tanner McKee’s 78-yard touchdown toss to Wilson in the fourth quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the night.
Oregon outgained the Washington State Cougars 625 yards to 416, but you wouldn’t know that from the score. Oregon skirted past Washington State 44-41. The Ducks’ victory was all the more impressive since the Cougars were averaging only 12.67 points allowed on the season. Oregon QB Bo Nix was slinging it as he passed for three TDs and 428 yards on 44 attempts in addition to picking up 30 yards on the ground. That was the first 300+ yard effort for Nix this season.
Special teams collected 12 points for Oregon. K Camden Lewis delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
The Cardinal are now 1-2 while Oregon sits at 3-1. A couple defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Stanford ranks 26th in the nation when it comes to rushing touchdowns allowed, with only three on the season. As for Oregon, they come into the matchup boasting the 17th fewest rushing yards allowed per game in the nation at 86.5. Looks like the running backs might have a tough go of it.
