Packers list LB Rashan Gary as questionable, rule out two for Sunday

GREEN BAY – The Packers have listed linebacker Rashan Gary (toe) as questionable for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.

Receiver Christian Watson (hamstring) and linebacker Tipa Galeai (hamstring) have been ruled out. Neither player practiced this week.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers (right thumb) did not receive a game status and is expected to play. Rodgers didn’t practice on Wednesday but was a full participant on Thursday and Friday.

Gary was added to the injury report on Thursday but continued to practice on Friday, albeit in a limited capacity. Depending on Gary’s availability, it could mean more opportunities for rookie fifth-round pick Kingsley Enagbare and Jonathan Garvin.

“It’s the next man up and the standard doesn’t change, but let’s face it, the guy is pretty impactful I’d say when he’s out on the grass,” said Head Coach Matt LaFleur of Gary, who has five sacks this season. “Certainly he’s a guy that we definitely want in there. When he’s not in there I think you can feel the effects of that.”

In addition to Rodgers, the following Packers players did not receive a game status and are expected to be available: tackle David Bakhtiari (knee), guard/tackle Elgton Jenkins (knee), tight end Marcedes Lewis (veteran rest), and defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt (quadriceps).

The Jets have ruled out defensive end Jermaine Johnson (ankle) and listed tackle Duane Brown (shoulder) as questionable. Brown played all 59 snaps in his season debut against Miami.

New York didn’t issue a game status for defensive end Carl Lawson (ankle), and linebackers CJ Mosley (hip) and Quincy Williams (ankle). All three are expected to be available.
