Hendon Hooker outduels Bryce Young as Tennessee topples Alabama

Kenneth Walker III should be top waiver-wire add

Tennessee beat Alabama on Saturday night for the first time since 2006, as Hendon Hooker got the last laugh in an epic battle with fellow stud quarterback prospect Bryce Young.

Hooker completed 21 of his 30 pass attempts for 385 yards and five touchdowns, leading the Vols to a 52-49 victory over their cross-conference rivals.

Young, last year’s Heisman Trophy winner, turned in a valiant effort despite the loss, going 35-for-52 through the air for 455 yards and a pair of touchdown passes. Young missed last week’s game against Texas A&M with a shoulder injury, but showed no ill effects as he brought the Crimson Tide back from a 28-10 deficit to regain the lead multiple times.

Jalin Hyatt caught all five of Hooker’s touchdown passes, racking up 207 yards on just six receptions, averaging more than 34 yards per catch.

Jahmyr Gibbs had a huge game for the Tide, racking up 151 total yards on 29 touches, including three rushing touchdowns.
