Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill is hampered by an ankle injury he suffered during the Week 7 win over the Indianapolis Colts, which has left his status up in the air for Week 8 against the Houston Texans.
After practice on Friday, head coach Mike Vrabel revealed that Tannehill will be officially listed as questionable, although the Titans signal-caller did not practice to close out the week after getting in a limited session Thursday.
Adding to that, Tannehill was also listed with an illness on the final injury report. Vrabel says the team will wait as long as possible before making a decision on Tannehill’s status.
But the Titans not only have to consider if Tannehill is healthy enough to play, they also have to wonder if the veteran will be able to play at an effective level.

If Tannehill can’t go, rookie quarterback Malik Willis will make his first career NFL start. Willis got a taste of the NFL in Week 2 when he was inserted under center during the shellacking at the hands of the Bills.
In that game, Willis completed 1-of-4 passes for six yards, while also rushing four times for 16 yards. However, it was difficult to gauge Willis’ showing with Tennessee getting smashed in every facet of the game.
One thing’s for certain: Willis starting will add a little extra juice to this one.
