The Jacksonville backfield belongs to Etienne now after James Robinson was traded to the New York Jets earlier this year.
While that doesn’t mean Etienne is going to be a workhorse who gets 30 carries a game, it does mean he’ll be the one getting the touches in the red zone. And against a Broncos defense that is scary against the pass, it’d make sense if the Jaguars gave Etienne opportunities to punch it in.
No group has allowed fewer passing touchdowns than the Patrick Surtain II-led Broncos secondary. While Denver has only allowed four rushing touchdowns, it ranks 22nd in yards allowed per rushing attempt.
Etienne is a player who could break a long run at any time, could sneak out of the backfield for a short touchdown reception, and will likely now be the one getting short-yardage carries. That’s a winning formula for anytime touchdown bettors.
