FORT WORTH, Texas – University of Utah quarterback Cameron Rising has been named to the Davey O’Brien Quarterback Class of 2022, making him eligible to be voted one of 16 semifinalists for the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award.

Rising is one of 40 quarterback named to the 2022 class with voting starting today. Fans can vote on the Davey O’Brien Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts with the top-five vote getters on each of the three social media platforms getting bonus committee votes that will add to the ballots cast by the national committee.

To participate in the fan vote, fans must like the original post highlighting Rising on social media. Each of the three rounds of the selection process (semifinalist, finalist and winner) will feature a fan vote.

He has started in seven games this season, going 148-of-215 passing for 1,855 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also has 308 rushing yards on 47 carries with six rushing scores.

The Ventura, Calif., native ranks first in the Pac-12 and fifth nationally in ESPN QBR Rating (89.4), also ranking third in the league in completion percentage (.688). Since 2020, Rising has completed 65.6-percent of his passes, which is the fourth-best mark in program history.

Rising has surpassed the 200 passing yards mark in six of the seven games he has appeared in, including his career-high night against USC. Earning him Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week and Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week, Rising finished the game against the Trojans with a career-high 415 passing yards (30-of-44) with two passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns.

He has scored all six of his rushing touchdowns in the last three games he has played in, punching in one against Oregon State and two against UCLA in addition to his three vs. USC. The dual threat quarterback has rushed for over 50 yards in four of his seven games this season, including a career-best 91 yards on seven carries (13.0 ypc) in Utah’s season opener at Florida.
