Packers list five questionable to play vs. Lions

GREEN BAY – The Packers have listed five players as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions: receivers Allen Lazard (shoulder) and Christian Watson (concussion), linebacker Preston Smith (shoulder/neck), and offensive linemen David Bakhtiari (knee) and Elgton Jenkins (knee/foot).

The Packers also ruled out linebacker De’Vondre Campbell (knee) and cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles (ankle).

Watson sustained a concussion on a helmet-to-helmet hit following a 12-yard catch in the first quarter against the Buffalo Bills last Sunday. He returned Thursday in a limited capacity and again practiced on Friday. Lazard sat out against the Bills before returning to practice Wednesday.

“We’ll give him up to game time,” said Head Coach Matt LaFleur of Lazard before practice Friday. “He’s a guy that has enough experience and if he’s able to go, then we’ll let him. But if he can’t, he can’t.”

Sunday will be the first game in six years Campbell has missed due to injury. Defensive coordinator Joe Barry confirmed on Thursday that rookie linebacker Quay Walker would wear the communication helmet if Campbell couldn’t go.

“It’s been pretty good. Just taking it in day by day,” said Walker, who has 57 tackles and two forced fumbles in eight games.

“Dre was the main guy who was the green do, so I learned a lot from him. It will be my first time calling the plays and being the guy who’s got communication of the huddle. Looking forward to it.”

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers (right thumb) and tight end Marcedes Lewis (veteran rest) didn’t receive game statuses and are expected to play.

The Detroit Lions have ruled out defensive back Chase Lucas (ankle), safety Ifeatu Melifonwu (ankle), tackle Matt Nelson (calf) and cornerback A.J. Parker (hip).

Along with receiver Josh Reynolds (back) being doubtful, the Lions listed four others as questionable: tackle Taylor Decker (back), defensive end Charles Harris (groin), running back D’Andre Swift (ankle/shoulder) and tight end Brock Wright (concussion).

Detroit didn’t issue a game status for the following players who are expected to be available: linebacker Derrick Barnes (knee), safety DeShon Elliott (finger), cornerback Mike Hughes (knee), center Frank Ragnow (foot), and tackle Penei Sewell (personal).
