Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott spoke to the media Wednesday and updated the health status of quarterback Josh Allen who suffered an elbow injury at the end of last week’s game against the Jets.
McDermott shared that Allen will be “day-to-day” as the team begins practice Wednesday and wouldn’t give an indication whether or not Allen will be able to suit up this Sunday as the team faces the 7-1 Minnesota Vikings at Highmark Stadium.
“We’ll see,” McDermott said of Allen’s likelihood of suiting up.
McDermott did add that Allen will not practice on Wednesday.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport, Allen’s injury is being characterized as a sprained right elbow, also referred to as a UCL injury. Allen’s injury occurred on the final possession against the Jets on a strip sack play where the Jets Bryce Huff hit Allen’s arm during his throwing motion.
The quarterback was seen grabbing at his arm immediately after the play, but he was able to finish the game. On the second play after the injury, Allen managed to throw a ball that traveled just shy of 70 yards in the air — the longest pass attempt by any QB over the last six seasons — but the pass intended for Gabe Davis was incomplete to end the game.
