Jaeden Gould enters the transfer portal

Rutgers football offered New Jersey offensive lineman Nick Oliveira this week.

One of the top recruits to come out of New Jersey over the past three years is in the transfer portal. On Friday, Jaeden Gould announced that he is set to leave Nebraska after one season with the program.

Gould was the highest-ranked recruit in Nebraska’s 2022 recruiting class. According to 247Sports, he was a four-star and the third-highest-ranked recuit in New Jersey.

The defensive back starred for powerhouse program Bergen Catholic. Coming out of high school, Gould had offers from a number of top programs including Alabama, Penn State, USC as well as in-state from Rutgers.

As a true freshman, Gould saw some snaps this season for Nebraska including in a game against Oklahoma. He has four years of eligibility remaining.

He announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Friday:

 

Gould is one of several Nebraska players to enter the transfer portal since the end of the season. Nebraska recently announced Matt Rhule as their head coach, making a splash hire.

Rhule was most recently head coach in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers. One of his first hires was E.J. Barthel as his running backs coach.

Barthel was currently on staff at UConn and was a former running back at Rutgers.
