TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The National Football League concluded Week 14 of the 2022-23 regular season on Monday night. Below is a look at how former Crimson Tide players fared.
Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts added to his MVP-caliber season with an impressive effort against the New York Giants. Hurts finished 21-of-31 passing for 217 yards and two touchdowns while rushing seven times for 77 yards and another score. He connected with teammate DeVonta Smith five times, helping the second-year wideout rack up 64 yards and one score. The duo helped the Eagles to a dominant 48-22 win, clinching a spot in the playoffs in the process.
Jerry Jeudy had a career day for the Denver Broncos. The third-year wideout scored a career-high three touchdowns on eight catches and 73 yards. Running back Derrick Henry rounded out of the group of former Crimson Tide players on offense with another productive outing for the Tennessee Titans. Henry carried 17 times for 121 yards and a touchdown while adding three receptions for 34 yards. The former Heisman Trophy winner continues to impress in year seven and ranks second in rushing yards league-wide.
Defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs had a strong showing in the Lions’ 34-23 win over the Vikings. Buggs finished with one sack and three quarterback hits but his biggest contribution was a crucial forced fumble. The turnover came on the Detroit 3-yard line to end a potential scoring drive by the Minnesota offense. Fellow defensive lineman Quinnen Williams had himself a day for the New York Jets. Williams finished with three tackles, including two sacks, to go with a pair of quarterback hits.
Steelers’ safety Minkah Fitzpatrick accounted for a team-leading 11 tackles and helped the Pittsburgh secondary limit the Ravens to only 94 passing yards. Also standing out in the secondary was Patrick Surtain II of the Broncos. The Denver corner totaled two tackles, one pass defense, one quarterback hit and picked off one pass for his fifth career interception.
