TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona punter Kyle Ostendorp has been named 2022 College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-American.
Ostendorp earns the first College Sports Communicators First Team All-American honor of his collegiate career. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. The cumulative grade-point average may not be rounded up to 3.50. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games at the position listed on the nomination form.
The junior from Phoenix earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District earlier this month and was named student-athlete valedictorian of the 2021 graduating class.
Ostendorp followed up his record-setting year in 2021 with a solid performance in 2022. He averaged 45.5 yards per punt with three touchbacks, four fair catchers, 10 inside the 20-yard line, and nine punts of 50-plus yards. He booted a long of 64 yards against Mississippi State in the home opener on Sept. 10.
